Morocco Airport Transfers Guide
Getting from Morocco's airports to the city is easy: Casablanca has a direct ONCF train, while Marrakech, Fez, Tangier and Agadir rely mainly on official taxis, with fixed or agreed fares. Prepaid private transfers and some airport buses are also available; always settle the fare before riding.

General rules at every airport

Use only official taxis from the marked ranks and ignore drivers who approach you inside the terminal. Agree the fare before you set off, or confirm the meter is running, as airport taxis often use fixed rates.

Have small dirham notes ready, since drivers rarely break large bills. Many airports have official rate boards; a quick photo of the posted price helps avoid disputes.

Casablanca (CMN): train is best

Mohammed V Airport has an ONCF train station in the terminal basement with hourly services to Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port, taking 30-45 minutes for well under 50 MAD, the cheapest and most reliable option.

Official grand taxis to central Casablanca run around 250-300 MAD with a possible night surcharge. From Casa-Voyageurs you can connect onward by train to Rabat, Marrakech or Tangier.

Marrakech (RAK)

Menara Airport is only about 5 km from the centre. Official airport taxis to the medina or Gueliz commonly cost around 100-150 MAD; agree the fare first as meters are often not used here.

A public bus (line 19) links the airport to Jemaa el-Fnaa and Gueliz for a low flat fare, and many riads offer prepaid pickups, which are convenient since cars cannot reach most riads, so you may finish on foot.

Fez and Tangier

Fez-Sais Airport is about 15 km from the city; official taxis to the medina or Ville Nouvelle typically run roughly 120-150 MAD. Confirm the price before departing.

Tangier's Ibn Battouta Airport is around 12 km out, with taxis usually 150-200 MAD into town. Tangier is also on the Al Boraq high-speed line, so onward rail to Rabat and Casablanca is fast from the city station.

Agadir and other airports

Agadir's Al Massira Airport is about 25-30 km from the resort area; taxis run roughly 200-300 MAD, and many hotels arrange transfers. Prepaid shuttle services are common for package travellers.

Smaller airports such as Essaouira and Ouarzazate rely on taxis with agreed fares. Where no train exists, a prepaid private transfer booked through your hotel removes the haggling on arrival.

Choosing the right option

If a train exists (Casablanca, or onward from Tangier), it is usually the cheapest and avoids fare negotiation. For door-to-door convenience, especially with luggage, late arrivals or families, a prepaid private transfer or official taxi is worth the extra cost.

Ride-hailing apps operate in some cities and can undercut taxis, but airport pickup rules vary, so check current conditions. For riads in car-free medinas, a prepaid pickup that includes a porter to the door is the smoothest choice.
